Founded the 12 July of 1572 by Hernan Suarez de Villalobos by order of the president of the real rearing Don Andrés Diaz Vereno de Leyva located in the andina`s region inside of the department of Boyacá with a population of 14.000 inhabitants, approximately at height of 21149 meters above sea level with on extension of 128 km² and a temperature average of 18 degrees celsius.
It is preserved the old valve of its architecture and a natural environment to admire that together with traces of cultural history is one of the most valuable degrees in the past.

Villa de Leyva has a unique landscape surrounded by ochre colored mountains, almost desert and with a mountain chain with wonderful forest, including the lake of Iguaque. It has an excellent climate and the tranquillity of a healthy environment that makes Villa de Leyva an important tourist place. It has too a lot of kinas of natural attractions where you can practice different sports extreme.

As an additional attraction, the town has institutionalized a series of massive events and festivals that attract a lot of people that promote, the trade and the tourist service with an excellent chain of hotels and restaurants and places to rest and the contact with the nature.
